Margaret is a seasoned legal professional with a robust background in real estate, corporate law, and compliance. She has developed expertise in navigating complex transactions, particularly in the Southeast Asian market. Her proficiency in legal frameworks is complemented by her understanding of cognitive psychology, which she leverages, along with her knowledge of culture and local practices, to enhance client interactions and negotiation outcomes.
Margaret’s legal career spans various roles, including in-house counsel, private practice, and business development, where she has successfully led cross-border transactions and managed diverse legal and commercial portfolios. Having both experience as a practicing lawyer and in-house counsel, she’s able to bring multiple lenses to organizations issues and offer a greater variety of solutions within the legal framework. -
Margaret’s twelve-year career journey reflects her adaptability and leadership in both legal and corporate environments. She started her legal practice at one of the largest law firms in Malaysia in the real estate and banking team within the corporate division. She then took on the role of Foreign Counsel at one of the prominent firms in Cambodia, where she managed the China Desk. After spending seven years in legal practice, she transitioned to in-house roles, first with a private Chinese property developer and later with a China state-owned company in Singapore as a legal counsel and vice president of business development, delivering impactful results in corporate transactions, property development, and strategic planning.

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London International Programmes and a Certificate in Legal Practice from the Legal Profession Qualifying Board in Malaysia. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2013.
